Mystery's Mistress is a perfume extrait created by the receiving of all the perfumery aromatics that otherwise would be lost to the siphon of pipettes. Each time we make perfume, the remaining material gets washed in perfume alcohol, added to the mother batch, and then rests. This perfume "wash" accumulates new layers each time one of my perfumes is made, creating an incredibly complex, mysterious, nuanced perfume that can never again be created. In perfumery it's often called a "millefleur")

One man's trash is another man's treasure - as the old adage goes. Indeed, while we have what some might say is the waste, I can't agree. It's something different though, for sure. It's an improvisation made of its own will. Void of my creative control, but consisting of the most expensive, valuable, exquisite aromatic materials in natural perfumery, it's an honoring of these materials so they are not wasted but put into the art they were meant to become. 

BATCH 1 JAN-MAY 2020 has arrived as something I might loosely regard as a floral fougere. Opening with a lush leafy flower garden at dusk mood, it is familiar yet complicated, somehow coded like a poem you have to untangle. It floats with sensuality and curves along sides of pillowy coumarins, velvety vanillic notes, and wears gorgeously like a classic perfume despite its genre confusion. 

Enjoy this olfactory 'art' as a temporary oblation to the perfume muse and her very personal whims, knowing that once it's gone, it's gone.
