BLUEGRASS - Natural Botanical Perfume - The Prairie Meadow
|The Prairie Meadow |
Roll carefree in a clover filled prairie, unburdened with tumbleweed and wildflowers in your hair. Leap over freshly baled hay and get lost in the shapes of clouds. Loose track of time on the longest summer afternoon as you link stems of daisies into a garland. Distant fiddles sing hymns of the old south and the sunrays coax the soft incense from the sweetgrass braids.
THIS IS THE LAST OF BLUEGRASS- I am forced to retire this perfume due to raw materials no longer available. If I can source them in the future I plan to make it again.
Style: Fougere, green, grass, agrestic
Strength: pure perfume extrait or eau de parfum

- The Full Buck Moon – July July is normally the month when the new antlers of buck deer push out of their foreheads in coatings of velvety fur. It was also often called the Full Thunder Moon, for the reason that thunderstorms are most frequent during this time. Another name for this month’s Moon is the Full Hay Moon and the Meadow Moon, fitting for this fragrance.
In response to Bluegrass perfume:
"You somehow managed to wrap up a meadow into a single bottle of bliss! Ananda, you have no idea how Bluegrass enfolds me in the fields I love more than anything on this Earth....my soul is humming like crickets and my heart is filled up with fire flies. If heaven for me could be described, it would be your Bluegrass, nothing more. Its many layers of windblown grasses, blooms, and sunlit earth cannot be any less than where the Gods tread."
~Marlaina Donato, Artist. ~~
The quintessential smell of a summer field. Of fecund meadows rolling in golden wheat and fluttering oats. Of tall, gentle stands of white and pink clover. Steady and soft, green and inviting, a daydream resting on a breeze. Growing up in Iowa this is how I spent my summers and is the nostalgic smell of my wonder years spent in braids and handmade prairie dresses despite my rough and tumble ways.
Bluegrass is also an homage to down home comfort music; the fiddle and the banjo, and perfectly aligned voices like Leah and Chloe of Rising Appalachia. Bluegrass invokes front porch feelings and a sense of home. It opens smoothly with green grassy notes and a waxy bluegrass warmth. Lavender draws you in to the reverent sweetgrass notes in the heart of the perfume. Beeswax, Hay, and Clover hold long on the skin and are simply divine throughout the wear. Very subtle veils of sandalwood, tobacco, violet leaf and vetiver give structure and complexity.
This perfume smells deeply natural to me - the way my skin carries home the smell of the plants after a day of wildcrafting elder flowers and skullcap in the tallest grass on the horse farm. The way I feel loosing myself to a nap in the summer lawn when the grass has just been cut. It smells natural on the skin and is easily a beautiful androgynous scent.
The plants I gathered for this perfume are white clover (melilotus alba) which extracts into the most beautiful, fragrant clover-hay aroma that carries this perfume and keeps you close to the land.

A NOTE FROM THE PERFUMER
** Due to the fact that I - Gather perfume - use exclusively 100% natural materials, batch variance is to be expected. This is the same in any luxury, handcrafted art medium ( such as dance and opera) and agriculturally dependent arts such as viticulture, honey, or microbrewery. Gather perfumes are often limited editions for this reason, as well as the fact that some materials can only be obtained for small windows of time or no longer available at all. If you prefer uniformity in your fragrances, you may want to consider a more commercially available or mixed media brand.
