Vibrant resinous green emerges from the loam and ash. Dense patches of baby pines fluff their scented soft needles. Scraggly saplings reach towards dappled light, mimicking the reach of mother trees. Hardwood hickories practice their stubborn stance, and the faint inference of rosy colored heartwood emanate from hidden groves.

Understory is a revised perfume that takes inspiration from two of my long past perfumes; Nikola (2013) and Liadan's Cloak (2013). Nikola was a deeply coniferous perfume that underscored the phrase "she went to the forest and asked", more deeply inspired by the song sung by Rising Appalachia.

Liadan's Cloak was a rosemary-amber-nutmeg perfume that conjured the combination of magic and strength that this character embodies. Book #2, Son of the Shadows, from the Sevenwaters Trilogy.  I guess there's a bit of a creative lineage to this new perfume ... befitting the name understory. 

Coniferous, slightly ambery, with a soft rosewood leaf  opening, this perfume is less intense and more of an ephemeral forest walk - good for those of you who prefer a more tender and less tenacious scent experience.
